Bellamy holds talks with Everton
Craig Bellamy has met Everton boss David Moyes as the Newcastle striker tries to finalise a permanent move before the start of the season.
BBC Sport understands the 25-year-old Bellamy met Moyes on Sunday.
The striker spent the last half of last season on loan at Celtic after a row with Magpies boss Graeme Souness.
Newcastle, who began pre-season training on Monday as they prepare for the Intertoto Cup, have given Bellamy an extra seven days holiday.
"Craig Bellamy is not due to return to training until next week along with those players who took part in international matches after the end of last season," said a club spokesman. "He will return with the rest of the players next week."
With the striker's exit looking ever more certain, Souness could start the season with only Shearer and youngster Michael Chopra as his strike force.
Shola Ameobi is still at the club but will miss the start of the campaign through injury.
Newcastle's first competitive game is the first leg of their Intertoto Cup third round tie against either Ankaraspor or Dubnica on the weekend of 16/17 July.
The Magpies, however, insisted there had been no change of plan. Bellamy also fell out with Newcastle captain Alan Shearer after allegedly sending him abusive text messages and is unlikely to return to the club.
