Toon's target Emre still has Premier ambitions Jul 5 2005
Turkey international Emre is still hopeful of negotiating a move to the English Premiership.
The Internazionale midfielder has been linked with Everton and Newcastle United this summer.
In an interview with NTV in Turkey, he said: "My priority is to play in Europe, which I have repeated several times. I am most likely to play in England."
The player's agent, Ahmet Bulut, has indicated in the past a deal was imminent, saying: "Emre is playing next season in England, for sure" - yet no move materialised.
Emre is a big name in his homeland, where clubs would jump at the chance to sign him.
He added: "My name comes up in the news with Fenerbahce.
"I am not saying I will not play for Fenerbahce but, as I always said, I want to play in Europe.
"Returning to Turkey is taking a step back so that is why I say my last choice is to go back there."
Emre insists his number one desire is not to sign a lucrative contract.
He said: "I want to play the game. That is why the money is not a problem. If I was thinking about the money, I would stay with Inter." |
