Newcastle make Emre bid
Newcastle United have made a bid for Inter Milan midfielder Emre Belozoglu.
Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd told his club's official website: "We have been talking to the player with Inter's permission and we have now tabled an offer.
"We are now waiting for Inter to come back to us with their response."
Magpies make Emre bid
Newcastle United have stepped up their bid to sign Emre Belozoglu after lodging an offer with Internazionale.
The Turkey international has been one of Magpies boss Graeme Souness' top transfer targets over the summer and he is now finally close to snaring his man.
Emre has been discussing personal terms with Newcastle for several weeks and claimed last month that he had concurred on a deal to move to St James' Park.
The stumbling block has been reaching an agreement with his current club Inter regarding a fee.
Inter are believed to want around £4 million for the midfielder, who has struggled to establish himself at Giuseppe Meazza.
The transfer is now closer to being finalised after Newcastle confirmed they have submitted a firm bid for the 24-year-old.
"We have been talking to the player with Inter's permission and we have now tabled an offer," Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd told the club's official website.
"We are now waiting for Inter to come back to us with their response."
Toon submit Emre offer
Newcastle have tabled an official bid for Inter midfielder Emre. The Turkish international has been keen on a move to the Magpies for some time and has already discussed terms with the Premiership outfit. Toon chairman Freddy Shepherd said: "We have been talking to the player with Inter's permission and we have now tabled an offer. We are now waiting for Inter to come back to us with their response." The 24-year-old is expected to cost around £5m, although Newcastle face competition from Everton for his signature.
