Parma have finally agreed to sell star striker Alberto Gilardino to Milan even if no official announcement has been made.
It is believed that the two clubs have reached an agreement over the fee, even if contracts may not be swapped until Monday or Tuesday.
The Rossoneri have been in pursuit of the forward for some time after allegedly agreeing personal terms with the player months ago.
But getting the Tardini outfit to accept a bid has been the biggest problem for the San Siro side.
After initially asking for £35m, Parma lowered that price tag to a more reasonable £22m even if Milan continued to claim that was too expensive.
Parma rejected a £19m offer last week but it is believed that a deal has finally been sorted out for the Italian international.
The turning point in the negotiations came when Milan agreed to pay Parma’s share of a special clause in Gilardino’s contract.
If Parma sold the player for over £14m, they would in turn have to pay Gilardino a bonus payment of £1.4m.
Milan will now pay that amount to the player and hand his club £18.6m, therefore capturing the 23-year-old in a £20m deal.
Gilardino should net himself a five-year contract worth £2.1m a season.
Although reports insist a deal has been done, Parma have moved quickly to claim that the transfer has not been completed.
"Parma announce that they have sold nobody, on a permanent or temporary basis, except those which have already been made official on the club’s website," read a statement.
