"We know each other by heart"
GUILLERMO AND PALERMO
-Do you see yourselves playing together in many matches in the future?
Palermo: Sure. However, I'm sure Coco already has decided Sunday's lineup after the tour and we'll see if we are the starters, or Rodrigo and one of us...
Guillermo: Absolutely. In the last months we haven't had the chance to play together often. I haven't played often lately at all. We'll have to await Basile's decision.
—Coco said you two have kept that chemistry through the years. Is that an advantage?
Guillermo: We still have that chemistry. That's a fact. We both know the other guy's moves, I know where Martín wants my crosses to go or where I have to pass him the ball according to the situation. Still, we have to prove it on the pitch, as always.
Palermo: Exactly. We haven't played much together since my return and that would give us confidence, but we know each other by heart. We just have to build on that. I think we could do pretty well together once again. However, I insist, the decision is in Basile's hands.
Guillermo: I think another factor that works in our favor is that we are playing with an attacking midfielder, as we used to do when we started playing together (Riquelme then, Insúa now). Besides, we seem to have more of an attacking style now and that could allow us to be more involved in the game.
—And how do you feel personally?
Palermo: I'm calm. I know my job is to score goals. I only scored once in the tour but I know the real games start this Sunday against Gimnasia from Jujuy.
Guillermo: I feel better. I've been able to get into good shape and I'm glad we are assembling a good team. Hopefully, we'll deliver and meet the supporters' demands.
—And how's the team?
Guillermo: I think we're fine. In some matches we didn't have good performances due to the physical strain, and the trips take their toll. The key was to get playing time; wins and losses weren't that important. Now back in Buenos Aires I think the team will improve a lot. I'm sure we'll do fine.
Palermo: I agree: Boca will be fine. The tour was positive in that sense. Coco got to know the team and tested different alternatives. |
