Keane And Brown Could Still Make Tour
Roy Keane and Wes Brown still have a chance of making United's Asia Tour, despite suffering injuries during pre-season training.
Reports on Thursday morning had suggested that Keane (hamstring) and Brown (Achilles tendon) would miss the trip to the Far East through injury.
But Sir Alex Ferguson says the pair, although not in full training this week, remain in contention for a place on the four-game tour, which sees United play in Hong Kong, Beijing and twice in Tokyo.
"They have every chance of going on the tour," Ferguson said at a press conference to unveil new signing Park Ji-sung.
"I'm hoping they will both be back in training next week. Therefore, if they are fit they will travel. At this moment in time it's quite positive.
Roy got a hamstring eight days ago and he has treatment on it. It was just a tight hamstring. He's been out on the training ground and doing gymnasium work.
"Wes felt that his Achilles tendon was quite tender. Hard grounds in the summer do that. He is back in light training doing jogging.
"We will be making a decision on Tuesday or Wednesday, but at the moment it is quite positive."
Gabriel Heinze may miss the tour though, he could be rested after his involvement in the Confederations Cup with Argentina.
Ferguson will not want to lose Keane and Brown from his squad after declaring on Wednesday that it is vital he has a fully-fit squad to get a "flying start to the new season".
