Despite losing 7-1 to Brazil earlier in the year in the Carlsberg Cup, HK are currently ranked 123rd in the world - their highest FIFA ranking for years. Managed by  Lai Sun-cheung, HK possess a good balance of youth and experience. They won the Guangdong-Hong Kong Interport Cup in January, winning 4-2 on aggregate, and finished runners-up to North Korea in this year's East Asian Football Championship in Taipei. Their most experienced player is 34-year-old striker Au Wai-lun, who plays for South China, while strikers Chan Ho-man and Chu Siu-kei, who both play for local league champions Sun Hei, are the team's brightest young prospects. The majority of HK's squad is made up of players from Sun Hei, Happy Valley and Kitchee - the top three clubs in Hong Kong.
