Bowyer anger at Magpies chairman
Lee Bowyer has expressed his dismay at Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd.
Shepherd issued a joint statement with manager Graeme Souness describing the midfielder as a "fantastic player" after looking to sell him this summer.
"He was trying to get rid of me asking other clubs to come in for me and that is never nice for a footballer who gives his all in every game.
"To find that out was disappointing and as long as I am here I will give my all," said the 28-year-old.
"I want to play for a team that wants me. There have been things said this summer and I was not wanted.
"I come out to give my all wherever I play. It is not about proving people wrong, though I have done that all my career - and I will keep doing it."
Last season Bowyer was banned for a total of six matches by the Football Association and fined £250,000 by Newcastle for his clash with Kieron Dyer at St James' Park against Aston Villa in April.
The former Leeds player has also been summonsed to appear before Newcastle Magistrates' Court in September to face an allegation under Section Four of the Public Order Act in relation to the Dyer incident.
The former England internayional was close to joining Birmingnham and had also been linked with Charlton and Aston Villa.
