Inter fans will have to wait another 24 hours before Luis Figo officially becomes a Nerazzurri player.

It was believed that the winger would complete his move on Thursday but he now won’t put pen to paper until Friday.

"An agreement is in place," FIFA agent Ernesto Bronzetti, who has been involved in the talks, told GRT radio.

"It will be officially confirmed tomorrow after the player has had his medical even if a deal has been done.

"All the agreements are based on the player passing his medical and he could be presented to the media on Saturday."

Bronzetti also revealed why Figo is quitting Real Madrid a year before his contract was set to expire.

"The Real Coach doesn’t play with wingers, that is why they allowed Figo and Santiago Solari to join Inter.

"(Owner Massimo) Moratti likes great champions and has an excellent relationship with the Spanish club.

"Figo also recently rejected the offers of clubs like Liverpool and Valencia, plus a number of others."

The former Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon star has agreed a two-year deal reportedly worth around £2.2m a season.

Luis Figo has failed to agree personal terms with Internazionale after travelling to Milan in a bid to organise a transfer from Real Madrid.
With the Spanish club’s blessing, the Portuguese international went to Italy with his advisers as he sought to move along a switch to Roberto Mancini’s side.

But he returned empty handed after the two sides failed to bridge the gap over the wages that Inter were prepared to pay and those that Figo was demanding.

The former Barcelona star will not join up with the Madrid squad at their training camp in Austria and wait for further news from Milan.

A move wll have to completed in the next 48 hours if Figo wants to play in Europe for Inter as the club are set to register 25 players for the Champions League on August 4.

Figo was said to be keen on a move to Liverpool, but the deal was scuppered when Madrid refused to allow him to join the Reds on a free transfer and instead slapped a €3million price tag on his head.

There is also reports in Spain that Valencia could make a renewed effort to sign the 32-year-old, but they too have been put off thanks to the transfer fee and salary demands.

"We do not think that chasing Figo at the moment is necessary because the price is so high," said Valencia president Juan Bautista Soler.

"But if the coaching staff really want him and the price is lowered slightly then we could talk."

Figo move no closer

Real Madrid intend to take Internazionale target Luis Figo to Austria with the rest of the squad.

Los Galacticos will head to Austria in the next few days and time is running out for Inter to complete their raid for the Portugal international.

Inter had given a Thursday deadline to wrap up the transfer after already signing Walter Samuel from Real.

"Figo is Real Madrid's player," insisted coach Wanderlei Luxemburgo on Real's official website. "He's having open talks with other sides but, if nothing will be defined, he will stay with us."

Figo was in Italy on Tuesday to discuss a two-year contract worth a reported €3.5 million per year with Nerazzurri supremo Massimo Moratti.

The midfielder then returned to Spain and the prospect of flying to Austria does not bode well for Inter.

Inter want Figo to sign for them before Thursday's latest UEFA Champions League deadline and are threatening to pull the plug on the deal if it is not rubber-stamped by then.

Meanwhile, Real's Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos has confirmed he has been granted Spanish citizenship.

The switch facilitates the arrival of his international colleague Robinho on August 25.
