Juventus have agreed to loan defender Paolo Montero to Argentine club San Lorenzo for one season.
Montero has signed a one year loan deal to play for the Argentine club and is likely to make his debut against champions Velez Sarsfield in the first round of the Apertura Championship that begins this weekend.
The Uruguayan international, and captain of the 'celeste' will return to South America after spending most of his career in Italy, including nine years at Italian giants Juventus.
Montero (33) comments on his new move:
“In Italy I learnt a lot, but I think it is a good time to return. San Lorenzo and Juventus are similar in that they are big clubs that always challenge for the title”.
Although San Lorenzo are one of the big five clubs in Argentina last season they finished in the bottom positions of the championship and did not make it past the first round of the Copa Libertadores.
The club are looking to rebuild their past success this season and have been very active in the transfer market. Their most important signing has been that of prolific Paraguayan striker Jose Saturnino Cardozo, who like Montero is a regular for his country.
