Man City increase Malbranque bid
Manchester City have made a second offer for Fulham midfielder Steed Malbranque - thought to be about £5m - after having a £4m bid turned down.
City boss Stuart Pearce wants to add the 25-year-old to his squad after losing England star Shaun Wright-Phillips to Chelsea for £21m.
"If I was Fulham, it is a bid I would accept but clearly the ball is in their court," said Pearce.
"I'd like to see him join us. I don't anticipate we will go any higher."
Malbranque has scored 38 goals in his four seasons at Craven Cottage since arriving from Lyon for 5m.
He is primarily a creative midfielder and would give City the sort of option they have lacked since the departure of Ali Benarbia and Eyal Berkovic.
Malbranque had previously been linked with a move to Aston Villa, and it is thought City hope to complete a deal in time for him to play against Olympiakos on Saturday.
