German youngster Marcel Jansen is reportedly the subject of a mysterious bid from abroad with speculation suggesting that Arsenal are interested in the talented left back.
The 19-year-old broke into Borussia Monchengladbach’s starting line-up last season, and after starring at the Under-20 World Cup earlier this summer, many experts believe that Jurgen Klinsmann will soon hand him his full international debut.
Marcel’s father, Michael Jansen, revealed that his son has attracted interest from abroad, but failed to identify the mysterious club.
“There’s an offer from a foreign club, but we won’t say which one,” Michael Jansen told Rheinische Post.
With Highbury legend Tony Adams reported to have travelled to Borussia-Park last Saturday in order to follow the Foals' 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg, the local papers suggest that Arsenal could be ready to move for just another of the Bundesliga’s most talented youngsters.
Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger is known to have an eye for emerging talent and has recently added Stuttgart’s Belarus playmaker Alexander Hleb to his impressive collection of youngsters which includes Dutch starlet Robin van Persie, Swiss defender Philippe Senderos and Spaniards Francesc Fabregas and Jose Antonio Reyes.
Jansen is tied to the five-times German champions until 2007 and it would need a massive financial offer in order to prise the youngster away from the Foals, who reportedly put a €15 million price tag on their prized asset.
