Cagliari close in on Carini

Cagliari have officially signed Claudio Ferrarese and are reportedly ready to take Fabian Carini on loan from Inter.

The Sardinians put pen to paper for Salernitana attacking midfielder Ferrarese this afternoon and the 27-year-old provides an alternative to wide men Antonio Langella and Mauro Esposito in the trident system.


He isn’t the only new arrival, as there are strong reports that the issues surrounding Carini’s move have been resolved and that a switch is imminent.


The Uruguayan goalkeeper is set to arrive on loan with the Nerazzurri paying a large percentage of his wages during the season.


Carini had for a while taken over from Francesco Toldo and Alberto Fontana as the first choice goalkeeper at the San Siro last term, but the arrival of Julio Cesar has pushed him back down to the third rung.


The 25-year-old shot-stopper is yet to play regularly in Serie A, managing just four appearances for Inter and none in two years at Juventus, spending the 2002-2004 period in Belgium with Standard Liege.
