Angelo Peruzzi is being linked with a switch to city rivals Roma after leaving Lazio’s Fiuggi training base.
Reports in Italy on Monday allege that the goalkeeper has had a fall-out with boss Delio Rossi.
Although the club insist that the veteran has been given permission to leave for personal reasons, a split may be on the cards.
Peruzzi is a known transfer target for Roma who would like an experienced ‘keeper to help Under-21 starlet Gianluca Curci mature.
The former Juventus and Inter No 1, who is still in the mind of Italy boss Marcello Lippi, could make the switch in a swap deal.
Roma are supposedly ready to offer central defender Cesare Bovo to their rivals in return for the 35-year-old.
Lazio could decide to let Peruzzi go seeing as they already have Matteo Sereni at the club, a reserve shot-stopper who reportedly earns three times more than Peruzzi.
The latter actually started his career with Roma back in 1986 but really made his mark in the Italian game following his Turin transfer in 1991.
Peruzzi spent eight years at the Stadio Delle Alpi before one term at Inter. He moved to Lazio in 2000. |
