Birmingham City have agreed a season-long loan deal with Barclays Premiership champions Chelsea for midfielder Jiri Jarosik.
The 27-year-old Czech Republic international joined the Stamford Bridge side from CSKA Moscow in January this year, but has made only three appearances in the Barclays Premiership.
Birmingham will have an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
Blues boss Steve Bruce told official club website www.bcfc.com: "He's a powerful midfielder who is very good in the air.
"At his best I think he's an attacking midfield player who likes to get on the end of crosses and it's his versatitlity that really appeals.
"He can play the holding role in midfield, at the bottom of the diamond or off the front two."
Jarosik goes straight into the squad for Birmingham's home Barclays Premiership clash with Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
Bruce added: "He played against us at the back of last season for Chelsea. Although he only played for 25 minutes he turned the game and he caught my eye then because of his physical presence." |
