Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez refused to stop the rumours linking Djibril Cisse with a possible Anfield exit when cornered about the player's future after tonight's Super Cup Win.

The French hitman was instrumental during tonight's win scoring two goals and creating Liverpool's third which saw him named man-of-the-match by UEFA officials.

Asked after the Djibril Cisse show if the player figured in his long term plans, the Liverpool manager gave that 'only a centre-back and a right-sided midfielder' look and said: "Now we are going to pick up the cup (smiles). Always you ask me difficult questions and then I say easy answers. Now it's time to pick up the cup (laughs)."

Meanwhile the player himself insisted after the match that he wanted to stay at the club and added that he was upset that there was speculation surrounding his future.

It would not only be criminal to sell him so soon but it would also show a real lack of ambition by the club. If Liverpool are to build on their Champions League success last season they must retain the very best players.

We'd like to see Cisse and Owen paired together.

Liverpool Manager Rafael Benitez has paid tribute to his side after they produced another stirring comeback to beat CSKA Moscow 3-1 and lift the club's 3rd European Super Cup in Monaco tonight.        
Rafa, who refused to be drawn on questions about his transfer plans, said, "It was a difficult game, but my team had control and played a very good game.
  
"We made one mistake and it almost cost us, but now we are going to
lift the cup."
  
It Rafa's timely introduction of Djibril Cisse that turned the tide against the Moscow men and he revealed how his plans came good late in the game.
  
He said, "We knew that Djibril would give us more possibilities and we wanted to play some balls for him and it worked."

Djibril Cisse has brushed off speculation about his future by reaffirming his commitment to Liverpool.

The French forward's future at Liverpool has been cast into doubt, with reports suggesting he could be deemed surplus to requirements if Michael Owen returns to the club.

Cisse was left on the bench for the opening 80 minutes of the Super Cup on Friday, as Liverpool produced a performance which only increased calls for the return of Owen.

With ten minutes remaining and his side trailing 1-0, Rafa Benitez summoned Cisse and he answered the call with two goals and an assist as The Reds claimed a 3-1 win over CSKA Moscow.

Cisse rightly picked up the Man of the Match award and he chose the moment to pledge his future to The Reds.

"I've had a lot of speculation about me the last few weeks but now I'm very happy for me and my wife and everybody," he told ITV1.

"My future is at Liverpool, I feel good here so I do not know why I have to move.

"I think it is difficult, but I have to be strong and we did play good a game today."

Benitez evaded talk of Cisse and Owen after the match and it remains to be seen what the Spaniard's plans are for the final days of the transfer window.
