Wigan have made a renewed bid for Trabzonspor striker Fatih Tekke but face competition from Arsenal for his signature, according to a report.
Latics boss Paul Jewell has already seen a £3m bid for the Turkey international turned down.
But chairman Dave Whelan has now sanctioned a club record bid of £7.5m for the striker, the Sunday People newspaper has reported.
"We know from Turkey that Arsenal are also in," Jewell was quoted as saying.
The Wigan boss saw his team earn their first Premiership win of the season against Sunderland on Saturday.
But he is keen to make more signings ahead of the closure of the transfer window, despite being thwarted with a host of bids so far this summer. |
