Tottenham are exploring the possibility of bringing Lyon forward Sidney Govou to White Hart Lane.
The French champions are prepared to allow the 26-year-old to leave if the deal is right for the club and Govou has a long-standing ambition to play in England.
"Tottenham are interested, it is true but, equally, so are other English clubs," commented Frederic Guerra.
"Certain things can happen on Tuesday. He is looking towards a probable departure."
Spurs scouts were at Auxerre on Sunday to watch the wide man and the home side's Benjani.
Newcastle United, Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with Govou in the past and Everton reportedly tried to set up a deal that was dependent on their qualification for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.
Liverpool chief Rafa Benitez is an admirer of the player and would like a new right winger in his squad while former Gunner Gilles Grimandi has reportedly been monitoring his progress for Arsene Wenger.
Lyon's capture of Cruzeiro's Fred has facilitated a deal for Govou and developments are expected in the next 48 hours.
