LYON, France, Aug 30 (Reuters) - Brazil striker Frederico Chaves Guedes,
nicknamed Fred, joined Olympique Lyon from Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte on a
four-year contract on Tuesday.
Lyon, who are preparing for a Champions League campaign after winning their
fourth Ligue 1 title in a row, will pay 15 million euros for the
21-year-old, club chairman Jean-Michel Aulas told a news conference.
"It's a real pleasure to welcome one of Brazil's best goalscorers and a
player who will become one of the great talents of the game," Aulas said.
Fred won his first cap when Brazil defeated Guatemala 3-0 in a friendly in
April in Sao Paulo. He scored 56 goals in 70 games for his former club over
the last two seasons.
