Tottenham HotspurNewcastle United midfielder Jermaine Jenas has undergone a medical at Tottenham, Sky Sports News revealed.

The former Nottingham Forest ace is now expected to join the White Hart Lane outfit in a deal worth a reported £9 million.

Chairman Freddy Shepherd has confirmed a deal has been struck between the clubs and that Jenas has made the trip down south.

"We have agreed a fee with Tottenham Hotspur for Jermaine Jenas and the player has travelled to London for a medical," Shepherd told the club's official website.

The England international's future has been the subject of much speculation this summer with many believing he was unsettled in the North East.

Newcastle have strengthened their midfield options this close season, with the additions of Scott Parker and Emre, and have decided to allow Jenas to move on.

It could be a double press conference for Spurs on transfer deadline day with Lee Young-pyo joining the club, subject to receiving a work permit.

Jermaine Jenas has completed his ￡8m move from Newcastle to Spurs.

The 22-year-old was released from England duty on Tuesday to undergo a medical and ensure the switch was completed before the transfer deadline.

Newcastle have been resigned to lose Jenas since he admitted he was unhappy at St James' Park, even though he started the season in the team.

Midfield man Jenas complained that playing at Newcastle was like "living in a goldfish bowl."

Arsenal had also been linked with Jenas, but boss Arsene Wenger insisted he had no interest in the midfield man.
