Brugge have snapped up Spanish striker Javier Portillo from Real Madrid on a season's loan.

The Belgian side have agreed a straight loan move for the striker, with no option to buy when the deal runs out in June 2006.

Brugge are champions in Belgium but will be delighted to have added such a prodigious talent to their squad.

Portillo spent last season in Serie with Fiorentina, but despite interest from Italy and France it is Belgium that is to be his destination.

Brugge sealed the deal by agreeing to pay all of the player's wages for the campaign.
