FiorentinaFiorentina striker Christian Rigano has moved to Empoli on a one-year loan deal after refusing to go to Serie B side Brescia.
Brescia seemed interested in Rigano, who wanted a move so he could play regularly, but he refused to play in Serie B and, with the two sides also failing to reach a financial agreement, the deal fell through.
Empoli, who were desperate to strengthen their side after Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Udinese, quickly agreed a loan deal for the striker.
Empoli were promoted from Serie B last season and general director Mario Vitale said the loan deal was a big sacrifice for the club.
"We made a big sacrifice, but we were thinking of this deal for a long time," he said. |
