Inter admit Cassano interest

RomaInternazionale have signalled their intent to bid for Antonio Cassano when the transfer window reopens in January.

Inter watched as both Milan and Juventus failed to sign the brilliant but difficult star from Roma this summer, and director Gabriele Oriali has indicated that they will now join the bidding.

"Should an opportunity arise to sign [Cassano] in January then it's possible [president] Massimo Moratti will try everything to give a gift to the coach Roberto Mancini," said Oriali.

"At the moment we are satisfied with the team and we aren't looking for alternatives up front.

"However, if Cassano were put on the market we could not be faulted for bidding for perhaps Italy's best player of under 24 years of age.

"Obviously if we don't sign him he will strengthen one of our rivals so we will keep a close eye on the situation."
