Salgado set for Juve loan

Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi has denied that Michel Salgado is set to join the club in January after reports suggested the defender would make a loan switch to accommodate Cicinho at the Bernabeu.

Moggi was adamant that no deal has been done to take the Spanish international to Juve and that the squad did not require any more defenders.

Salgado was quoted as saying that the move had been agreed between the two clubs and that he was happy to go along with it.

But Moggi was insistent that he has not spoken to Madrid about Salgado.

"He can say what he wants, but I plan the strategy of Juventus and Salgado does not enter into our plans," said Moggi.

"We are doing very well and are strong in that position."

But Moggi did admit that things could change between now and January.

"There is a lot of time between now and January," added Moggi.

The reports in Spain suggested that Salgado was set to be replaced by Sao Paulo's Cicinho, who Madrid have an option to sign in the winter transfer window.

Real Madrid have quashed stories that Michel Salgado has suggested he is open to a move to Juventus.

Speculation has claimed that Juventus have agreed a deal with Real to take Salgado on loan when the transfer window reopens in January.

The reports emanated from rumours that Real would look to take up their option to sign Brazilian full back Cicinho in the New Year.

Salgado was quoted as saying he would be happy to join the Italian champions on a loan basis for the second half of the season.

Juventus have denied that a deal has already been agreed but stopped short of declaring they would not wish to land the right back.

But Spanish giants Real have moved to put an end to the speculation by insisting no talks have taken place, and that Salgado has not expressed a desire to head to Turin.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Real Madrid and Michel Salgado deny that they have spoken about the move of this player to Juventus at the end of December.

"Despite the reports that have appeared in the English and Italian media, which include alleged declarations from the player about a loan move, we would like to make it clear that he made no such comments and the club is not considering loaning him to another team."
