Fulham Football Club has today announced the signing of former French international centre-back Phillippe Christanval on a free transfer. The 27 year old defender joins Fulham in a three year deal that will see him at the Club until 2008.
Christanval spent four seasons at Monaco and was part of the side that won the French title in 2000 and secured his first international cap for France during this season, before moving to Barcelona for ?.5million in June 2001. He made a total of 45 appearances in all competitions for the Spanish club and won a further five International caps before moving to Marseille in 2003.
This morning at the training ground Phillippe said:
'I am happy to join Fulham and to play in the Premier League where each match is played at an exciting high tempo.
'There is a nice atmosphere around the training ground and I am looking forward to working with all of the players and being a big part of Fulham's future campaigns.'
Manager Chris Coleman commented:
'I am glad that we have been able to add another new face to the squad to give us the strength in depth that I felt we have been lacking.
'Pillippe's credentials speak for themselves and I have no doubt that he will prove to be a model professional and a great addition to the squad. We have a great spirit here and a fantastic group of guys, and I have no doubt that if we work hard together, that we can achieve things.'
Lee Hoos, Football Business Director, commented: 'Phillipe was in the enviable position of being a sought after player of an immensely high caliber who was out of contract, therefore we are more than delighted to have secured his signature at Fulham, and look forward to seeing him perform at the level we know he is capable of. |
