Thierry Henry and Freddie Ljungberg will miss Saturday’s trip to Middlesbrough.

Arsène Wenger told Arsenal TV Online on Thursday that he would rotate his squad to counter the effects of two international games in quick succession. At his press conference today he gave further details. However the manager stressed that both players were likely to return for the Champions League opener against FC Thun next week.

“I’ll rest a few players tomorrow like Freddie Ljungberg who had two tough 90 minutes,” said Wenger. “Thierry will be out as well with an inflammation of his groin.

“It is a question of days for him. It is an inflammation more than a strain. He went off [against Ireland] on Wednesday originally because of a kick on his calf. Like Freddie he should OK be for Wednesday.”“

Wenger is likely to start all five first-teamers who were not involved in international duty this week — Pascal Cygan, Lauren, Jose Antonio Reyes, Dennis Bergkamp and Robert Pires.

Sol Campbell is fully fit but will not be risked as he lacks match-sharpness.

“I am not fixing any deadline for him,” said Wenger. “He has been out for a long while and he needs time.”

Fabio Rochemback is set to make his Middlesbrough debut against Arsenal this weekend after being backed to fill the void left by Bolo Zenden's departure to Liverpool.

First-team coach Steve Round believes the summer signing from Barcelona has the ability to be a big hit on Teesside and that the Brazilian's arrival should bring about an immediate improvement in results.


FABIO ROCHEMBACK Round told the Evening Gazette: "Fabio can play the holding role or a more attack-minded, creative role.

"He can play the sitting role very well, but we've got George Boateng and Doriva who can do that here, so we see Fabio as a more creative player, who can create and score goals. That's the role we have in mind for him and he's happy about it.

"We all knew that we needed a player like him so his signing has given everyone a lift. He has had a very positive affect on the place.

"He certainly looks the part in training. He's a class act, so he will stand out in training and of course, in games too."
