BUENOS AIRES - (ANSA) - After a six-month absence due to family problems Argentina and Inter defender Nicolas Burdisso will be back with his team-mates next Monday. His last match for the Nerazzurri was the 3-0 Coppa Italia victory over Atalanta last 17 February.

The defender, who has been included in Mancini's Champions League player list, wished to thank Inter immediately: "I was never worried that they would cancel my contract. There's great sensitivity at Inter. At the Pinetina (Inter's training ground) there's more warmth, a family atmosphere, with its pros and cons."

"For me it was wonderful. The coach was fond of me and the president told me calmly to do what I felt I should do. Because of his humility and sensitivity, it's as if a Boca warehouseman were a club president. They offered me everything to have the treatment there and he told me to take all the time necessary."

"In return I promised to be back on the pitch as soon as possible to give security to the Nerazzurri defence. Inter is such a big and powerful club that it could easily have bought other defenders, but instead just Samuel has arrived and Mancini has also included me on his Champions League list. Let's hope we win it now."

With an intense season ahead with Inter and the World Cup at the end, Burdisso's football life begins again. "I feel that I still have the faith of coach Pekerman, even if I haven't been able to reply to call-ups since March. But I have never felt like an ex-player. When I was out I always told myself I am 24, I have been world champions four times and three times in South America, and I still want to aim high." He will have the chance again now with Argentina and Inter.

APPIANO GENTILE - Part two of Roberto Mancini's pre-Inter v Lecce news conference:

What is your opinion on Roberto Baggio's possible return to the world of football?
"Since he stopped he has had a bit of holiday and a bit of time to think. Considering what he has given to football it's logical to think of Baggio returning to this world, (Mancini smiles) unless he wants to go hunting all his life... I repeat: he has given so much to this sport. Football cannot do without Roberto Baggio."

What's your advice for Baggio. Do you think he would be a good coach?
"I have no advice to give him. I read that he declared that he has received some offers that he is evaluating them. It's him that will have to decide what to do. He has the experience and quality needed to take up various roles. He has to decide by himself, there's no point in others telling him what to do. And I really don't know what he might want to do, I can just say that if he wanted to take up a career as a coach he would have to get all the coaching badges and there's a long procedure to go through. However, it's right for him to return."

Hasn't too much been said about the presumed incompatibility between Pizarro and Veron after the defeat in Palermo?
" Veron and Pizarro can play together, also in different positions from those they normally occupy. Veron did so last season and the team did very well. The defeat in Palermo was down to a number of factors, not just one."

Do you think the defeat in Palermo might have undermined Inter's confidence?
"No, this hasn't happened. If I hadn't made several mistakes the team would have done a lot better in Palermo. The team has its qualities and characteristics. Palermo was a strange day, you sometimes get a match like this after so many months of having done well. It might also be positive that it happened in the second round of the championship, but I don't think the team can be affected by the consequences."

Do you think it would have been right to rest Adriano in Palermo? Did perhaps Brazil play him for too long too much in the friendly against Seville?
"A coach who has Adriano always wants to play him even when he isn't in top physical shape, and the same goes for every top-class player like him. Brazil coach Parreira got him to play almost the whole of a match that didn't count for anything, but coaches always act in their own interests and this is quite normal."

APPIANO GENTILE - "I thank Inter." These were Nicolas Burdisso's first words after Tuesday morning's training session at Angelo Moratti Sports Centre - the Argentine defender's first with the Nerazzurri after a six-month absence due to family problems.

"I can't wait to repay the affection, attention and esteem of Moratti, president Facchetti and the club, Mancini and the players by playing.

"I have trained regularly in this period, maybe not every day, but today it was really nice to return here, with my team."
