Bayern want Hargreaves to stay
German champions Bayern Munich are holding contract extension talks with England international Owen Hargreaves.
The 24-year-old midfielder's contract expires at the end of this season.
Last season Hargreaves was frequently used as a substitute by coach Felix Magath, but he has been a regular in the team during the current campaign.
"We've had initial talks and we aim to agree on a long-term contract extension over the next few weeks," vice-chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Sportbild.
During the summer Middlesbrough made a bid to sign Hargreaves, but the midfielder opted to stay in Germany.
"Owen Hargreaves has changed a lot in a very positive direction. His game is much more effective now and he has become a vital member of the team," added Rummenigge.
"We are very happy with him and would like him to stay with us." |
