Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko will miss tomorrow's Premiership clash at Birmingham with a muscle injury.

The Mali international, who has been so impressive during his early weeks at Anfield, will sit out the trip to St Andrews as the Reds go in search of their second league victory of the season.

Manager Rafael Benitez said today: "Momo has a slight muscle problem and won't play against Birmingham.

"It's not serious but we don't want to take any risks with him."

Benitez also revealed he'll make a decision on whether Fernando Morientes can return from injury at Birmingham after today's training session.

Birmingham may give Neil Kilkenny his debut, with Nicky Butt, Muzzy Izzet, Stephen Clemence, Jiri Jarosik, David Dunn and Mehdi Nafti out.

Mikael Forssell will look to add to his Carling Cup goals after being eased into action following knee surgery.

Liverpool will be without Mohamed Sissoko, who has a thigh strain.

Dietmar Hamann and Bolo Zenden are both pushing for a return to the side, but striker Fernando Morientes is still sidelined with a hamstring injury.
