巴勒莫對哥頓有興趣
Hearts have slapped a £5 million price tag on goalkeeper Craig Gordon following shock reports linking him with a move to Palermo.
The 22-year-old is currently away on international duty, but negotiations over a contract extension are understood to be ongoing.
Although The Jambos have stated categorically that there have been no firm approaches from either Palermo or any other club, they are keen to warn off potential suitors.
"Craig Gordon is worth many millions of pounds," declared club chairman George Foulkes. "He is the established first choice keeper for his country, has done brilliantly for Hearts and we are not in the business of selling our best players.
"He is a big part of our plans as we try to keep progressing and it would take a substantial offer, of the order of around £5million, to even make us consider selling."
Despite the sudden interest in Gordon, the surprise SPL leaders insist that they are in no rush to tie the shot-stopper to Tynecastle.
"There is no urgency is getting a new deal sorted out. We want to keep him and Craig wants to stay," Foulkes concluded.
Gordon, who has hinted that his ultimate ambition is to play in the Premiership, still has a year-and-a-half to run on his present contract.
