Spurs eye Gonzales Kiese Rivaldo

Tottenham could be set to beat a host of clubs to the signature of Paraguayan starlet Rivaldo.

The 17-year-old, full name Gonzales Kiese Rivaldo, is wanted by a number of Europe's giants including Internazionale, Milan, Roma, Real Madrid and Manchester United.

However, Spurs have managed to get him to England and he is currently training with Martin Jol's first team squad.

Rivaldo has already had a colourful career, having first been spotted playing for El Nacional in his homeland at just 15.

Lazio were the first to move for him in 2003 and he trained with the Biancocelesti over that summer and actually played against Chelsea in a prestigious pre-season friendly.

However, Lazio's willingness to play him in an open game was their downfall as that allowed all his other suitors to get a glimpse and a bidding battle ensued.

Lazio in the end were beaten to the punch by Venezia - who agreed a deal with Nacional and the investors who basically owned the player's rights.

Rivaldo, though, has since departed Venezia due to their financial problems and the investors who look after him took him back to Nacional earlier this year.

Now he is ready to move back to Europe and Tottenham look to have jumped to the head of the queue.

Skysports.com can exclusively reveal that Rivaldo has been training with Tottenham this week, and now they have been given permission to look at him for an extra week.

The young midfielder, who holds a Spanish passport, could now seal a deal with a view to move to moving to White Hart Lane in January
