Robert hits out at Pompey
Laurent Robert has launched another angry tirade at Portsmouth, after claiming he has been made the scapegoat for the club's troubles.
Pompey sacked manager Alain Perrin on Thursday, after Robert had been dropped from the squad for Saturday's game against Chelsea.
Caretaker boss Joe Jordan did not hand the French winger a reprieve for the visit of the champions and Robert is fuming at his axe.
Robert, who is currently on loan at Fratton Park from Newcastle United, infuriated Perrin when he refused to be on the substitutes' bench against Sunderland.
He has also accused Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric of having an influence on his omission from the squad and does not believe he should carry the can for the club's woes.
"I do not know why I was not in the squad," Robert told the News of the World. "You will have to ask chairman Mandaric.
"I am not injured and I have been training with the first team all week.
"Then on Friday, caretaker boss Joe Jordan tells me I am not playing and I had to train with three kids. I am very angry and upset.
"It seems that when we play badly or lose it is my fault. I have been made a scapegoat because we have not been winning enough games.
"There are people at this club who are trying to get me out."
Robert also insists he was in full support of Perrin's tenure and claims several senior players helped to force the Marseille coach out of his post.
He added: "I was very upset about that. It is unbelievable.
"I came here because of Alain, but some players said bad things about him on TV and that did not help him. It made Alain's job very difficult."
