German champions Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Paraguayan starlet Julio Dos Santos.
The 22-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at the Allianz Arena and will complete his €2 million (£1.3 million) switch from Cerro Porteno when the transfer window re-opens.
Bayern are hoping that Dos Santos can help fill the void left by Michael Ballack's impending departure with the German international expected to move on in January.
"He's Paraguay's number ten, he can replace Ballack," Bayern's sport manager Uli Hoeness said of Dos Santos.
There are still one or two loose ends to be tied up regarding the South American's transfer as he had originally signed a pre-contract with Spanish outfit Cadiz.
Bayern are likely to have to pay Cadiz a compensatory amount to smooth the deal, while the player's status as a non-EU citizen could also cause some problems.
Uefa laws stipulate that European clubs may use no more then four non-Europeans and the signing of Dos Santos takes Bayern's contingent to five.
However, the Bavarians are hoping that the youngster will be able to acquire a Spanish passport to resolve that issue.
There was further good news for Bayern on Wednesday as Lucio joined Sebastian Deisler in penning a contract extension.
Like Deisler, the Brazilian defender has signed on for a further three years and is now under contract until 2010.
