Reyes is back but Henry and Van Persie doubtful

There are doubts over the fitness of Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie ahead of the Boxing Day trip to Charlton but neither injury is likely to keep them out for long.
The Frenchman has tweaked his nagging Achilles once more whereas his Dutch counterpart hobbled off with a knee problem during Wednesday night’s win at Doncaster. On the bright side, Jose Antonio Reyes looks like he could be fit for the game at The Valley and Quincy, who also injured a knee at Doncaster, is likely to be “two to four weeks” rather than the “four to six” first feared.
“I don’t know if Thierry will play or not at Charlton, he needs to be assessed on Saturday,” said Wenger. “He has had a slight recurrence of Achilles pain but there is no major problem. Ideally I want to play him.
“Robin van Persie looks to be out of the Charlton game but he has a little, little chance. Reyes looks like he could be available.
“Quincy is out. He will be unavailable for two to three weeks, maybe as long as four, I don’t know yet. Ashley Cole and Gael Clichy (both foot) are out of course.” |
