Aston Villa with be without left-back Wilfred Bouma and centre-back Olof Mellberg through injury.

David O'Leary is still without Kevin Phillips (knee), Patrik Berger (knee), Lee Hendrie (Achilles) and Ulises De La Cruz (calf).

Arsenal midfielder Gilberto is ruled out because of a knee injury.

Robin van Persie is back in contention after a knee injury, but left-backs Ashley Cole and Gael Clichy are still long-term absentees.

"We have lost four league games at home this season, which is too many, and our home record in the second half of last season was not brilliant.
"Hopefully, with the win over Everton, things have changed and we can now put on a series of good performances.

"We have generally been better away from home this season, but you need to win your home games."


Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger (on midfielder Mathieu Flamini, who may replace Gilberto Silva):
"Mathieu is improving very well but people forget he is only 21 and to play central midfield at that age at this level is very difficult.
"He is more suited to a bigger pitch, which we will have next season at our new stadium, because of his fitness.

"He is more a mobile player than an impact player which Vieira was."
