Having already signed Antonio Cassano within days of the transfer window reopening, Real Madrid are also on the trail of Empoli striker Francesco Tavano.
Real's market consultant, Ernesto Bronzetti revealed that the Liga giants will be keeping a keen eye on the progress of the 26-year-old.
"Tavano is really good, he's a player that Real Madrid is following," Bronzetti told Radio Radio.
The Tuscan side revealed that they had yet to have any contact with Real but were flattered by the interest shown in Tavano, who has scored nine goals in 16 appearances this season.
"The reports about Tavano are flattering to us but we know nothing," Empoli's general director, Pino Vitale, told Gazzetta dello Sport.
Vitale expects Empoli to enjoy a quiet January with any transfer dealings held over until the summer.
"As for ourselves, I think that the group will remain the same until June," confirmed Vitale.
Tavano admits that he was unaware of Real's interest but hopes that the speculation may come to fruition and ultimately lead to him following in the footsteps of former Roma striker Cassano.
"Being followed by Real is a really beautiful thing," said Tavano. "I've never heard these rumours, but I hope, like Cassano, that I may also realise a dream." |
