Middlesbrough have accepted a shock transfer request from Mark Schwarzer.
The 33-year-old only signed a new three-year deal with Boro in February, but he has now asked for a move.
Schwarzer is the longest serving player at the club, having joined from Bradford City in 1997.
However, Boro have now confirmed that the Aussie has asked to leave the club and they have agreed to place him on the transfer list.
"We are disappointed that Mark has made this decision but respect his feelings," said Boro boss Steve McClaren.
"In the football club's best interests, we have agreed to his transfer request and will listen to any offers we receive."
Schwarzer has been a popular figure during his time on Teesside, helping the club to their first ever trophy in 2004 and pulling off the last minute penalty save last term which booked Boro a second successive season in Europe.
Despite this some sections of the Boro crowd have been quick to criticise the Australian and it now seems his time with the club is set to come to an end.
Reports are already suggesting that the former Manchester United and Arsenal target has a move lined up and it would seem likely that something is in the pipeline.
McClaren is known to be a big fan of Bolton's Jussi Jaaskelainen and could make a move for the Finn - who himself is known to be unsettled at The Reebok Stadium.
