Treviso tie up Belgium's Baseggio

RSC Anderlecht midfielder Walter Baseggio has joined Serie A's bottom club,
Treviso FC, on a six-month loan with the option of a permanent transfer at
the end of the season.
Limited opportunities
The 27-year-old Belgian international, who has scored once in 27 games for
his country, has found his first-team chances limited at Anderlecht this
term, starting only six Belgian First Division matches. However, he made six
appearances in the UEFA Champions League as the Brussels club bowed out of
UEFA competition having finished bottom of Group G.
Italian roots
Baseggio arrived at Anderlecht in 1991 and subsequently helped them to three
Belgian titles. His decision to sign for Treviso may have been influenced by
his Italian roots; his parents are Italian, and his father is from Treviso.
The team are currently 20th in Italy's top flight having taken eleven points
from 18 games, and Baseggio becomes their third January signing after Marco
Borriello from UC Sampdoria and AC Siena's Gianni Guigou.
