Charlton Athletic are poised to sign Everton striker Marcus Bent after they agreed a £2.5m deal.
Boss Alan Curbishley is a long-term admirer of the 27-year-old, and moved again for him after agreeing to sell Jason Euell to Birmingham.
Bent has not been an Everton regular this season, despite David Moyes' side struggling in the Premiership.
Manchester City had also shown an interest, but the Hammersmith-born star is keen to return to London.
Bent has rarely been seen in regular action since James Beattie arrived at Everton and has scored only once this season.
If Bent completes his move to The Valley, Charlton would be the ninth club in 10 years for the much-travelled star who started out as a Brentford trainee.
Everton boss Moyes will then turn his attention to landing a striker, with veteran Duncan Ferguson also being linked with a move to Portsmouth.
