Everton manager David Moyes has dismissed speculation linking Duncan Ferguson with a move away from Goodison Park.
Rumours are rife that the player is wanted by Portsmouth, with Harry Redknapp keen to recruit an extra forward as Tresor Lomana Lua Lua and Benjamin Mwaruwari are both away at the African Cup of Nations.
However, Moyes has spoken with the veteran striker and revealed that he is happy to stay at least until the end of the season.
"Duncan and I spoke yesterday [Monday]. He is happy to stay at the club and will see his contract out until the end of the season," Moyes told Sky Sports News.
"The concern I've got is whether Duncan wanted to continue playing and he voiced them to me and asked if he could continue playing.
"I think he can, and I told him that.
"Hopefully we'll be able to see Duncan between now and the end of the season, albeit it may just be in certain games."
Moyes also revealed that the time was right to sell Marcus Bent to Charlton Athletic but paid tribute to the player's performances for the Merseyside club.
"Last season he was tremendous but he was not been playing as much this campaign and the chance to move down south suited him, so we thank Marcus for all his efforts," he said.
"He was a good player and it was market value. We're sad to see Marcus go but I think it was a move that suited him and at this time it is probably right for us as well.
Moyes also revealed that the transfer fee will be available to spend on new players.
"The money we get is always used, the board are very good here and always make everything available to me that they can and we'll try and spend it," he said.
"I don't think there's an awful lot out there to buy at this present time so I couldn't tell you if we'll be spending it or not."
