Kroldrup joy at Viola move Thursday 19 January, 2006

Defender Per Kroldrup explained his delight at returning to Serie A football with Fiorentina today. "I wanted to come back to Italy and I don’t ever want to leave here again," he said.
The Danish centre-half joined Everton from Udinese for £5.1m in the summer, but his stay in Liverpool was little short of disastrous.
The 25-year-old international only made two appearances for the Toffees in an injury-plagued five months.
"When the chance to join Fiorentina came up I jumped at it," said the former Stadio Friuli stopper.
"I wanted to come back to Italy and I don’t ever want to leave here again. Unfortunately, I never got to show what I could do in England."
Viola sporting director Pantaleo Corvino had said, after netting Luis Jimenez, that there would be no further signings in the January transfer window, but he explained today that Kroldrup was too good an opportunity to pass up.
"We always said that the club would keep a close eye on quality opportunities arising in the transfer market," he said.
"The purchase of Kroldrup falls into this category, as he fulfils both our current and future technical requirements." |
