Palermo send Del Neri packing

Palermo have officially sacked Luigi Del Neri following today’s shock 3-1 home defeat to Siena.
It’s believed his replacement will be ex-Siena and Lazio Coach Giuseppe Papadopulo, but there is no confirmation as yet.
The Coach was kept inside the locker room after the match for an emergency meeting with directors Rino Foschi and Rinaldo Sagramola.
The squad was booed off the field and around 100 angry fans gathered outside the car park exit where the team bus was set to leave the Stadio Renzo Barbera.
Del Neri’s job has been on the line for several weeks, as patron Maurizio Zamparini has repeatedly criticised his tactics in public. The Coach refused to change his system, despite conceding 35 goals in 22 games.
It has been a tough couple of years for him since leaving Chievo, as Del Neri has been fired by Porto and left Roma after less than five months in charge.
