Filippo Inzaghi is likely to leave Milan at the end of the season with Roma his possible next port of call, according to reports in Italy.
The Azzurri international, who returned from a two-year injury absence recently, has found first-team appearances hard to come by and is growing frustrated at warming the bench at the San Siro.
While the Rossoneri rearguard - which has been the subject of the most criticism of late - appears to be improving with just one goal conceded in the last four matches, the attack is struggling to find the net.
And yet, despite their profligacy in front of goal, Inzaghi is still down in the pecking order behind an out-of-sorts Andriy Shevchenko and an Alberto Gilardino who hasn’t scored since January 8.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti is desperate for a win at home to Treviso on Wednesday night and must decide between Gilardino and an evermore-disenchanted Superpippo, who has attracted the interest of Roma.
The Giallorossi will be free to act in the transfer market after serving a year-long ban and - with Shabani Nonda having failed to make an impression at the Stadio Olimpico and Vincenzo Montella beset by continual injury problems - the proven Inzaghi would be a huge asset to Coach Luciano Spalletti, particularly if they qualify for the Champions League next season.
Inzaghi feels that he no longer has the belief of Ancelotti and is said to have been particularly infuriated at being substitute in the goalless draw at Lazio. |
