Milan have made an approach for Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez, according to reports in Italy.
The Rossoneri’s quest for new blood has been well-documented and the versatility of the Mexican - who can play in both defence and midfield - particularly appeals to the Italian giants, who have allegedly already spoken to his agent.
Milan enjoy excellent relations with the Spanish champions and, should Frank Rijkaard – who has himself been linked with a return to Milan as Coach - agree to his concession, the 26-year-old could even arrive at the San Siro in the summer.
Marquez, who is a Mexico international, joined Barca from Monaco in 2004 and has a contract with the Catalan outfit until 2010.
He is the latest in a long line of defenders to be linked with a move to Carlo Ancelotti’s side after Cris and Antoine Reveillère of Lyon, Hertha Berlin’s Josip Simunic, Roma’s Cristian Chivu, Goran Govrancic of Dynamo Kiev and Juve’s Jonathan Zebina. |
