Inter forward Alvaro Recoba is a confirmed transfer target for Flamengo, the Brazilian club have stated.
Flamengo chief Kleber Leite admires the enigmatic attacker and hopes his friendship with the player’s agent could prove decisive.
“We have an excellent relationship with his representative,” Leite revealed on Thursday evening.
“Recoba is now 29-years-old and has been playing in Europe for many years. At this stage of his career, he might have the desire to return to South America.”
The Uruguayan international left his homeland in 1997 and has been at Inter ever since, apart from a six-month loan spell at Venezia.
Although Recoba is by no means a regular in Roberto Mancini’s plans, he is a firm favourite of patron Massimo Moratti.
Recoba, who scored in the 2-1 defeat at Fiorentina last night, is in the middle of contract talks seeing as his present agreement expires in June. |
