Diego Maradona is being taken to court after being involved in a car crash in which two people reported injuries.
Maradona is alleged to have driven his off-road vehicle through a red light and into a telephone box in Buenos Aires last week.
The injured pedestrians - who deny the former World Cup-winning captain’s claims that he wasn’t behind the wheel of the vehicle - were passing by at the time of the accident and struck by shards of glass from the shattered telephone box.
The 45-year-old has been remanded to appear in court but does not run the risk of receiving a custodial sentence.
This is not the first time the ex-Napoli star has found himself in trouble with the authorities in recent times.
In the last two months he has been accused of throwing a glass at a former beauty queen in a bar in the French Polynesian island of Bora Bora and arrested for causing a disturbance after missing a flight at Rio de Janeiro airport.
