Everton allowed emergency keeper
Everton have been given permission by the Premier League to sign a goalkeeper on loan for their next game.
With three keepers injured or banned, only 19-year-old John Ruddy is eligible to face Newcastle on 25 February.
Manager David Moyes even thought about asking 46-year-old goalkeeping coach Chris Woods to sign a short-term deal.
"They have agreed with the proviso that we produce medical evidence to show that Nigel Martyn and Richard Wright are injured," said a club spokesman.
Moyes is in America this week and the club has refused to say if it has any potential signings in mind at the moment.
Any loan signing is expected to be for a month, covering the likely lay-offs of both Martyn and Wright.
Martyn suffered a groin injury before Christmas and Wright was injured in the warm-up for last week's FA Cup defeat at Chelsea.
This led to a surprise debut for Iain Turner, but he was sent off during his Premiership debut against Blackburn days later.
Ruddy, the club's one remaining senior goalkeeper, came on to also for his debut.
