Ballack in Inter U-turn Wednesday 8 March, 2006

Inter are still in the race to sign Bayern Munich ace Michael Ballack, according to the player’s agent.
Michael Becker was quoted as saying that his client would never join Inter only last week, but he now claims that the Nerazzurri are one of three clubs who could net him.
“Ballack has great admiration for Inter, a side who he considers as one of the very best in the world,” the representative stated.
“We are presently in contact with Inter and Chelsea even if there is also the possibility of Real Madrid.
“I think that my client will be playing for one of these three clubs next season, but don’t ask me which one.
“All I can say is that Michael will leave Bayern in the summer because he has made his decision to go and will do so.”
Ballack is wanted by Europe’s biggest clubs seeing as his contract expires in June and will thus be available on a free transfer.
Inter, who want the German to replace the Argentina-bound Juan Sebastian Veron, have allegedly offered the playmaker a four-year deal worth £3.7m a term.
“Ballack will choose his new club before the World Cup kicks off,” added Becker. “That’s because he doesn’t want to be bothered by such problems during the competition itself.”
It’s believed that Becker will hold further negotiations with the Nerazzurri hierarchy on Thursday afternoon.
