Fabio Liverani has received his final offer for a contract extension and can talk to Fiorentina, confirmed Lazio today.
“We have made a proposal and it is the last one we will put on the table,” explained director of sport Carlo Osti.
“The player is thinking about it and wants a little time. We know full well there are other sides interested, as he is a great midfielder in a role where there are few real talents at the moment.”
Liverani’s current deal expires at the end of the season and he has already stated in several interviews that he is not convinced by the plans for Lazio’s future under President Claudio Lotito.
The former Perugia man has been linked to several clubs, including arch rivals Roma, but above all has been associated with a move to Fiorentina.
“There is no problem with Liverani, but at the same time we cannot push past our financial limits,” insisted Osti.
“Fabio is playing well and it takes two parties to close a deal. We can well imagine that he is having talks with Fiorentina among others. That isn’t an issue for us, as we know these are the rules of the game.” |
