Lehmann 'to be World Cup keeper' - Report

FRANKFURT, April 7 (Reuters) - Bild newspaper reported on Friday that Jens Lehmann would be Germany's first choice goalkeeper at the 2006 World Cup, relegating Bayern Munich's Oliver Kahn to the sidelines.

Bild, Germany's top-selling daily, said in a report released before publication on Saturday that coach Juergen Klinsmann informed Kahn on Friday of the decision to go with Arsenal's Lehmann for the tournament starting on June 9.


Kahn, who like Lehmann is 36, helped Germany reach the final of the last World Cup in South Korea and Japan in 2002 and was named player of the tournament.

Germany's Football Association said it had no comment to make but co-president Theo Zwanziger said it was possible a statement could be made later on Friday.

Asked if Klinsmann had made a decision, Zwanziger replied, "It looks like it."

One of Klinsmann's first acts as coach after taking over in 2004 was to strip Kahn of the captaincy and inform the Bayern keeper he faced a battle with Lehmann for the first choice goalkeeping position.

The coach has since alternated the two players, saying he would make a final decision at the start of May.

He may have decided to make an earlier decision due to pressure from Bayern Munich.

Sporting director Uli Hoeness this week accused the coach of waging a campaign of "psychological terror" on Kahn by not announcing a decision on the number one spot for the World Cup sooner.

The uncertainty was to blame for Kahn's two errors in a 2-2 draw with Cologne in the Bundesliga last weekend, the club said.

While Kahn's form has been patchy, Lehmann has strengthened his case by helping Arsenal reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Kahn has played 84 times for Germany, while Lehmann has won 29 caps.

Germany coach Jürgen Klinsmann has confirmed that Jens Lehmann of Arsenal FC will be his No1 goalkeeper at the FIFA World Cup, with FC Bayern München's Oliver Kahn demoted to understudy.

'True sportsman'
Reports in Germany suggested that Klinsmann had informed Kahn of the decision this morning, and although the German Football Association initially refused to comment, a statement from Klinsmann this afternoon said: "This has been the most difficult decision of my reign. Of course Oliver is disappointed but he proved himself a true sportsman." Kahn, who like Lehmann is 36, helped Germany reach the final of the last World Cup in Korea/Japan, where he was named the player of the tournament.

'Public debate'
One of Klinsmann's first acts as coach after taking over in 2004 was to strip Kahn of the captaincy and inform the Bayern custodian he faced a battle with Lehmann for the No1 jersey. The coach has since alternated between the two players, saying he would make a final decision at the start of May. 　　德國順堡將之爭已是曠日持久，自奇連士文上任以來持續近兩年，但奇連士文仍然沒有給出答案：到底誰在世界盃期間站在德國隊的門柱之間？奇連士文說5月初將會揭曉謎底，但總有些人等不及。

最近，在德國外相斯坦邁爾組織的一次外事活動中，身為世界盃組委會主席的碧根鮑華又一次說：“門將之爭現在已讓我感覺很無聊。”對此，足球皇帝以前就曾多有微詞，不過德國媒體已經批評他“越位”了。上一周奇連士文又特別強調了，對於簡尼和列文，“機會仍然是50%對50%。”

　　力挺簡尼的拜仁俱樂部特別不耐煩，由於競爭壓力，簡尼在上周身體不適的情況下也強撐著出場，並犯下低級錯誤，導致拜仁被弱旅科隆逼平。對此，拜仁總經理赫內斯率先炮轟奇連士文的門將輪換游戲。他尖銳地批評道：“這絕對只能給守門員帶來心理上的恐怖感。”拜仁副主席魯梅尼格也在一旁附和：“奇連士文應該打開天窗說亮話。”並強調說：“德甲里就拜仁一家全力支持國家隊，可國家隊卻玩什麼門將輪換來給我們俱樂部添亂。這些把戲只會讓人厭煩，現在應該立刻結束了，我們已經受夠了。”兩個拜仁頭頭的傾向性很明顯，赫內斯說：“簡尼不可替換。”魯梅尼格則表示：“使用列文顯然不可理喻。”至於拜仁教頭馬加特，說得更直接：“我要是簡尼，如果沒有獲得首發位置，就退出國家隊。”這樣的話，列文以前倒是也說過。

　　奇連士文真的不知道哪個才是國家隊的1號門將麼？日前接受採訪時，列文的一番話著實令人哭笑不得：“奇連士文曾經對我說過，他心目中早就有1號門將的人選了。”列文面對電視記者的採訪時說道，“可是後來，比亞荷夫又走過來和我說，奇連士文並沒有說過‘他心目中早就有1號門將人選’的這番話。”比亞荷夫此番給奇連士文“擦屁股”的行為，被列文揭發出來，著實令人難堪。不過從另一方面也顯示出，列文的地位也已經今非昔比，敢於如此的口無遮攔，拿主教練開涮，列文底氣足得令人吒舌。

　　最近簡尼的日子也確實很艱難。由於最近列文的強勢表現，簡尼的信心似乎受到打擊，亂了方寸，甚至在俱樂部都有可能被倫辛代替。昨天，他居然因為睡過了頭，頂著一頭亂蓬蓬的頭發趕到訓練場的時候已經遲到9分鐘了，等待他的是450歐元的罰款。中午後簡尼就悶悶不樂地離開，失魂落魄的他費了很大勁也打不開車門，半天才醒悟過來，這是伊斯梅爾(Ismael)的車，他自己的車在四米之外……
